Part-Time Controller

Location: San Francisco, CA (Hybrid / Remote Flexibility)

Position Type: Part-Time (approx. 15–20 hours/week)

Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented, strategic Part-Time Controller to manage our core financial operations, internal controls, and reporting systems. This role is ideal for an experienced finance professional looking for a flexible 15–20 hour workweek. You will come with strong Quickbooks and Google Sheets background.

The ideal candidate will bring strong hands-on accounting management—ideally with exposure to international transactions. Construction projects , and project/custom-order accounting (Job Profitability)—to support Cooritalia’s continued growth and operational health.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Coordination with Bookkeeper on daily posting, invoicing and payments

  • Financial Management & Reporting

  • Prepare and present accurate, timely quarterly financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) in accordance with GAAP.

  • Monitor cash flow, manage currency exchange considerations (EUR/USD), and maintain cash flow forecasting models.

  • Manage annual budget planning and quarterly forecasting processes; perform variance analysis against actuals.

  • Operations & Internal Controls

  • Manage and audit accounts payable (A/P), accounts receivable (A/R), and customer billing processes tied to project milestones.

  • Oversee project cost accounting, calculate Commissions for Sales Team

  • Develop, implement, and enforce internal accounting controls, policies, and procedures.

  • Contract Management, Insurance Renewals

  • Ensure local, state, and federal tax compliance (sales tax, property tax, and corporate tax filings) in coordination with external CPA firms.

Strategic & Cross-Functional Support:

  • Collaborate with project managers to track project profitability, job costing, and deposit/retainer schedules.

  • Act as the primary point of contact for external auditors, tax advisors, and banking partners.

  • Provide leadership with financial insights and key metric analysis to guide strategic business decisions.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or CMA certification preferred.

  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in senior accounting, Accounting Manager, or Controller roles.

  • Industry Background: Experience in high-end design/architecture, building materials, custom manufacturing, import/export, or project-based construction accounting is strongly preferred.

  • Systems Proficiency: High level of proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop/Online. Google Sheets knowledge is a must.

  • Technical Skills: Strong understanding of GAAP, job-costing methodologies, and foreign currency transactions.

  • Attributes: Exceptional analytical skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a dynamic, multi-tasking environment.

Schedule & Compensation:

  • Hours: 15 to 20 hours per week (Flexible schedule; combination of remote and occasional in-office presence).

  • Compensation: $65 – $85 per hour (commensurate with experience and qualifications).
