COORITALIA X BAR ARCHITECTS & INTERIORS

We are honored to share that our Film Archive + Preservation Center Project received the BLT Built Design Award’s 2021 Award for Institutional Architectural Design.

Beginning in 1966, as a small group of young architects completing innovative projects with an attitude of “anything goes (as long as it’s good)”, BAR Architects & Interiors has developed into a diversified, socially conscious, and highly accomplished architectural design firm. BAR manages many aspects of each project, from the architectural to the interiors and planning, and continues to add to their award-winning portfolio of mixed-use and multifamily housing, custom homes, hospitality and wineries, education and the arts, and commercial and retail centers.

We had the pleasure of working with BAR Architects on the impressive Film Archive and Preservation Center in Santa Clarita, California, providing the project with custom window and doors, terracotta flooring, and 42,000 square feet of custom roof tiles.

Combining elegance with performance, the wood units were built out of FSC certified Sapelli Mahogany with the outside as extruded custom cladding in Architectural Bronze.

The 47,000 custom roof tiles were manufactured 100% in Italy by terracotta artisans, San Anselmo. Some styles of tile were individually hand-painted like these decorative antefixes.

Earl Wilson, Principal at BAR, requested a terracotta inspired by the antique floor of the San Marco Cloister in Florence. We sourced beautiful, handmade tiles from a Florentine kiln often entrusted with the restoration of historic Italian landmarks.
